Engeland gaat los over ‘Ajax-target’ Vertonghen: “Die is klaar”

Tottenham Hotspur speelt vanavond de kraker tegen Liverpool. Trainer José Mourinho heeft voor een grote shock gezorgd door de 20-jarige Japhet Tanganga op te stellen in het hart van de defensie, in plaats van Jan Vertonghen.

De Portugese coach verklaarde dat hij ‘meer snelheid achterin wilde hebben, tegen de pijlsnelle voorhoede van Liverpool’. En dus mag een volledig onervaren jeugdproduct zijn debuut gaan maken in een wedstrijd tegen een ploeg in bloedvorm. Dat Mourinho daarvoor kiest, in plaats van ‘gewoon’ voor Vertonghen, vinden de fans veelzeggend: de bij Ajax genoemde Belg is volledig uitgespeeld in Londen..
